Very intense spicy and floral aromas on the nose. Rich exotic fruits of mango and pineapple on the palate. Powerful and dense with wonderful lifting acidity. Caramel butterscotch flavours on the very long finish.
There are a wide variety of approaches to matching food with this wine and much of the decision depends on the age of the wine. A classic match is to serve d'Yquem with Fois Gras. Other pairings would be to serve as dessert along with dishes that feature apricots, pears or peaches.
