Château Lafleur 1982
CHATEAU
Château Lafleur is A tiny 4.5-hectare Pomerol property located opposite Pétrus and producing wines of comparable quality. Lafleur is owned and run by Sylvie and Jacques Guinadeau. Its vineyards are situated on the gravel-rich Pomerol plateau and adjoin those of La Fleur-Pétrus. The soils here are particularly deep and are enriched by deposits of potassium and iron. Only natural fertilisers are used and yields are painfully low, even by Pomerol standards.
Along with Petrus and Lafleur Petrus, its illustrious neighbor, Chateau Lafleur is without doubt one of the greatest wines of Pomerol. Formerly named Domaine au Gay, Chateau Lafleur was renamed in the late 19th century, when the wine turns truly in the eyes of fans and knew an immediate boom in prices. The estate now belongs to Jacques and Sylvie Guinaudeau, former tenants of the domain at the time when Robin family owned it. On the death of the last sister Robin, her heirs, deaf to the sirens of finance and concerned about selling to real fans, did not hesitate to reach the financial possibilities of the couple Guinaudeau. A great story, rather rare among the great names of wine. At Lafleur, viticulture is elitist, as an expression of to the former owners: ""Quality more than quantity.""
